General Q&A How long has PRAI Beauty been making skin care?	Since 1999. Cathy Kangas founded the PRAI line of skin care in 1999, and called her company The Hide Away Spa, Inc. In 2004, as the company grew to encompass sales in Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom, Cathy changed the company name to better reflect the brand name in all these markets.
Where are PRAI products made?	All PRAI products are manufactured in the United States in licensed laboratories. PRAI uses several different manufacturing labs in order to maximize creative input, access to the newest technologies and ingredients, and to keep ideas fresh.
What is the prai root?	The prai root is a rhizome, and is a member of the ginger family. It has been used for centuries in Thailand as a natural smoothing agent for skin. PRAI incorporates the concentrated extract from this root in almost all its products. Its rich and ancient history is well documented and its uses can be found on the web by typing in a search for “phlai”, which is the Thai spelling.

Ageless Eyes Dark Circle Solution
Why is it brown? Is this product a concealer?	No, Ageless Eyes is NOT a concealer Instead of tinting like a concealer does, it uses light diffusing pigments to illuminate and brighten the eye area while deflecting the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Can I use it under make-up?	Yes, absolutely. Wait just a few moments after application to let Ageless Eyes absorb completely, then follow with your regular make-up system.
Do I use it day or night?	It is recommended for daytime use because of its ability to illuminate and brighten, but it can also be applied at bedtime.
How does it help make my dark circles appear lighter?	It incorporates a peptide complex called Haloxyl™ that helps decrease the appearance of dark circles. In a 56 day test of this key complex on 22 women, 45.5% showed a reduction in the red and blue discoloration under their eyes.
Can I use it everywhere around my eyes?	Yes. Put under the eyes and on the outer edges. Be careful, as with any eye product, not to apply directly to your eyes.
When I first put on the Ageless Eyes, it feels cool. Is that normal?	Ageless Eyes does have a cooling effect and yes, it is fine. Once absorbed the cool feeling will go away.
Ageless Lip Line Filler
I can’t get any product to come out of the pen. What am I doing wrong?	The Ageless Lip Line Filler pen needs to be “primed” for its first use. First, remove the outer plastic safety seal. There are perforations to make this easy. Then remove the cap (the rounded end) to expose the brush. Holding on to the middle of the pen, twist the other end of the pen 12-15 times to dispense the product into the brush. Priming only needs to be done on the first use of the pen. After that, a twist or two will dispense all that you need.
Do I put the line filler on before or after my makeup?	Follow these steps if you use makeup. Cleanse and tone skin first. Use any serum or moisturizer in your regimen. If you use lip liner, use it next. Then apply the lip line filler to areas around your lips that you want to smooth. Be careful not to put it on your lips themselves, just around your lips. Finally, apply your foundation and then your lipstick.
How much should I use?	Start sparingly. Apply a small amount and then if you need more, apply a small amount again. You will want to gently “paint” the Line Filler into the areas you target.
Will the Lip Line Filler drip into my mouth?	No. It is an anhydrous formula and it is designed to stay where you put it.
Ageless Throat & Décolletage Crème
How often should I use Ageless Throat?	You can use it every day, morning and night. It will help moisturize as well as help improve the appearance of crepiness on the neck and décolletage area.
What does “Décolletage” mean?	Your décolletage is the chest area from just above the bust to your neck. This is an area where the skin gets very thin, starts to look crepey, and loses firmness
Can I use this product on my face instead of my neck and chest?	This product is designed specifically for the décolletage area, so we would not recommend using it on your face. You might find it has good results on your hands, though, which share many of the same problems of thinning that our necks do.
At what age should I start using a throat crème?	Try not to think of it in terms of age but rather in terms of the condition of your skin. If you can take a little pinch of your neck or chest skin between two fingers and it doesn’t spring back when you let go, your skin is losing resilience and it would be a good time to start pampering this area with a product like Ageless Throat & Décolletage. Also, if this area is very dry or if you spend a lot of time with your décolletage exposed to sun or wind, Ageless will help keep the area softer and more moisturized.
What’s the best way to apply?	Start either just above or just below the bust (your preference) and apply upward in long sweeping movements all the way to your chin. Use a generous amount.
AquaSilk Hydrating Masque
How long do I leave it on my face?	10-15 minutes, then rinse off with warm water and pat dry.
How much should I apply?	You want to cover your entire face (except the eye area and lips) with a generous layer of AquaSilk. It will feel cool and soft. A large dollop should cover your face with a thick layer, so no bare skin shows through.
How often should I use this product?	We recommend twice a week, or more if your skin is particularly dehydrated by exposure to sun or inclement weather. It is gentle enough for daily use if you become addicted to how soft your skin feels after every use!!
What skin types is this product for?	Normal, dry and very dry skins benefit most from AquaSilk.
Deep Cleansing Foam
Does it remove make-up?	Deep Cleansing Foam is an ideal soap substitute for morning or evening cleansing. It will also remove make-up, but should be followed by toner to ensure that any cleanser or make-up residue is removed.
Is it OK to use as an eye make-up remover?	No, we recommend using an eye make-up remover without fragrance.
Does one rinse or tissue off?	Deep Cleansing Foam is designed to be used with water, so rinse off with warm water.
What skin types can use this product?	This is a gentle cleanser suitable for all skin types.
Gentle Toner
Does it have alcohol in it?	No. Gentle Toner is alcohol-free.
How do I apply toner?	Most people pour a small amount onto a cotton ball or pad, and then wipe gently across the skin. Always use real cotton pads, not synthetics as synthetic fibers may scratch your skin. Another favorite way to apply is to pour your toner into a spray bottle and “mist” your face with it. This technique is very popular when its very hot or humid out, as the toner is refreshing.
Why do I need toner?	Toner completes the cleansing process by removing any cleansing residue on your skin. It also helps balance skin pH to prepare it for further treatments or moisturizers.
Can I keep my toner in the refrigerator?	Yes.
Intensive C Restorative Balm
My skin is oily – is this a good product for me?	Probably not. This is a very rich formulation created with seriously dehydrated, dry skin in mind. It may prove too emollient for very oily skins.
This is very thick – how am I supposed to use it?	First, Intensive C Restorative Balm is INTENSIVE – it is intended to be very thick. It is also intended for us at night, although some people find it so nourishing that they use it daytimes, too.
How does Intensive C help seriously dehydrated skin?	There are two ways to apply to derive the best benefit from this product. 1. Use as a nighttime nourishing vitamin treatment/moisture barrier. Because it is anhydrous, it seals in any serums or moisturizers applied first, and acts as a barrier against evaporation. So, it is best used OVER Vitamin Complex 1 & 2 or your favorite nighttime moisturizer. 2. Another popular way to apply is as a balm. To employ this method, cleanse face. While face is still damp, massage a generous amount of Intensive C onto face. Leave on while you shower or bathe, allowing the moist warmth to circulate around your skin. Remove excess with a damp cloth or tissue. Your skin will feel INCREDIBLY soft! This powerful skin booster based on stabilized vitamin c helps skin look younger, imparts nutrients & hydration, enhances skin lipid barrier, imparts smoother, more even textured skin, supports skin’s natural collagen synthesis.
Pure PRAI
Why is this product called “pure”?	We call it “pure” Prai because it only has two active ingredients: prai root essence and Dermaxyl™, an ingredient created in France that targets the appearance of lines and wrinkles. It has no added water, no waxes, no fillers. All other ingredients listed on the bottle are preservatives required by law. The combination of the two active ingredients creates a very intensive, single purpose serum for daily use.
When do I use Pure PRAI ?	Pure PRAI can be used day, night or both. For best results, we recommend that it should be used at least once daily, on a continual basis.
When will I see results?	For best results, use at least once daily. Results should be evident within 60 days.
What skin types is Pure PRAI for?	Pure PRAI is formulated specifically to address the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It is suitable for any skin type – oily, normal, dry and very dry.
Why does Pure PRAI feel oily when I first put it on?	This is an anhydrous product, which means it is created with no water added. It also has no waxes or fillers. The initial “oily” feel dries off within moments to a soft, matte finish.
How should I apply Pure PRAI?	Pure PRAI can be used two ways: as a spot “treatment” or an overall serum. As a spot treatment, squeeze one drop onto the fingertips of one hand. Rub together with fingers on the other hand and then “fingerprint” the serum into specific lines and wrinkles that you wish to address. Areas most often targeted are marionette lines around the mouth, frown lines on the forehead, fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes. For overall face treatment, put one to two drops in the palm of one hand, massage hands gently together, and then press all over the face to distribute the Pure PRAI evenly.
Can I use Pure PRAI with any other products or must it be used alone?	Pure PRAI is a perfect partner to other products. Because it is a treatment serum and not a moisturizer, it is a good idea to follow Pure PRAI with a hydrator or moisturizer. You may also follow with Day or Night Caviar or Intensive C Face Treatment, which will add moisture while sealing in benefits.
Radiant Day Caviar
How is this different from Radiant Skin Crème?	Radiant Skin Crème is a moisturizer. Radiant Day Caviar is a serum designed specifically to help the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Do I use Day Caviar alone or with a moisturizer?	That depends on your skin type. Radiant Day Caviar is an anhydrous (that means without added water) formula. It is designed to target lines and wrinkles and to seal moisture into the skin. If you have oily skin, you can use Day Caviar by itself as a treatment/moisturizer. If your skin tends to be drier, apply your moisturizer first, then apply Day Caviar over it to seal in the moisturizing benefits as well as the wrinkle treatment benefits.
How long do I need to use Day Caviar before I see results?	One of the key actives in Day Caviar is Matrixyl™. This ingredient was tested in a clinical study in which subjects noted improvement over a 56 day period of continued use. We recommend that to get the best of this product, you use it regularly, once every day.
What is the difference between Day Caviar and Radiant Night Caviar?	Day Caviar is a lighter, blended formulation that provides an excellent base for make-up, a moisture seal, and targeted wrinkle care. Radiant Night Caviar is a richer, heavier treatment designed specifically for use at night. It incorporates Matrixyl at a higher level, and has added antioxidants, cell renewers, micronutrients and moisturizers ideal for overnight repair.
Radiant Eye Repair
When I first bought my Radiant Eye Repair it was blue and now the blue is fading. Why?	The blue color comes from azulene, which is derived from the chamomile plant. It is a natural, botanical color, not a dye. Since it is natural, it will fade over time and after any prolonged exposure to light. The color change does not affect the efficacy of the product at all.
Is there perfume in the eye treatment?	No. Prai does not add any perfumes or fragrances to eye products that might make them irritating to sensitive eyes.
What does Radiant Eye Repair do?	Radiant Eye Repair has two functions: it imparts moisture and nutrients to delicate eye area to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and it acts as a seal to hold the moisture and nutrients in.
When should I use Radiant Eye Repair?	Should be used every night, but can also be added to a daytime regimen. Always cleanse skin first and remove any eye makeup. Pat gently around the eyes, being careful not to pull or stretch this delicate area. Radiant Eye Repair is specially formulated to have excellent “slip”, which is a velvety smoothness that allows it to apply easily without pulling.
Radiant Skin Crème
What skin types is this product for?	Radiant Skin Crème is very emollient, and is best suited to normal, dry and very dry skin.
It seems to shimmer – is it a makeup?	No, it is not a make-up. It has a slight pale pink cast due to light refracting microspheres. These microspheres help impart the appearance of radiance to the skin and give it the “shimmer” or glow you are referring to.
When do I use Radiant Skin Crème?	Radiant Skin Crème is recommended for daytime use.
Radiant Night Caviar
What are the beads for?	The beads encapsulate the active ingredients, keeping them fresh until the beads are broken and the serum applied to the skin.
What are the beads made of? Are they real caviar?	The beads are vegetal shells which hold the 11 key active ingredients in the product. They are not derived from caviar or any fish material.
Sometimes when I use my Night Caviar there are little pieces of the pink beads left on my face. Why does that happen and what should I do about them?	The pink beads in Night Caviar are pierced when they are pumped from the bottle to your hand, releasing the ingredients encapsulated inside. Further massaging of the beads between your hands before gently applying to your face will “melt” most of the beads themselves, but from time to time you will have pink debris on your skin. You can leave it there overnight – the bits of beads will disappear on their own after a short time in contact with your warm skin. Or, you can gently remove them from your skin with a soft cotton pad or ball.
Do I need to use a moisturizer with Night Caviar?	This depends on your skin type. Oilier or normal skins will find Night Caviar emollient enough to replace a night time moisturizer. Dryer skins may want to add a hydrating crème for night. If so, the crème should be applied BEFORE the Night Caviar, in order to seal in benefits of both.
How is Night Caviar different from Day Caviar?	Day Caviar is a lighter, blended formulation that provides an excellent base for make-up, a moisture seal, and targeted wrinkle care. Radiant Night Caviar is a richer, heavier treatment designed specifically for use at night. It incorporates Matrixyl at a higher level, and has added antioxidants, cell renewers, micronutrients and moisturizers intended for skin at rest.
How long will it be before I begin to see results?	You will feel a difference in your skin after one application, and you may also see immediately a reduction in the appearance of dry, flaky skin. The wrinkle-fighting properties of the main active ingredient, Matrixyl™, were studied in a 56 day test. The results of that study indicated the participants saw results with nightly use. We recommend you use the product continuously each night to achieve best results.
Radiant Skin Serum
What does this product do?	Radiant Skin Therapy is a pre-moisturizing treatment. It is a refiner, helping slough off dead skin cells and giving skin a more radiant appearance.
How do I use it?	After you wash and tone your skin, dispense a one pump dose into the palm of your hand. Distribute between both hands and massage gently onto skin. THEN YOU MUST FOLLOW WITH A MOISTURIZER. Radiant Skin Therapy is a refining serum, and does not moisturize.
I have sensitive skin – can I use this product?	Yes. RST does not use any acids for refining. Instead, the refining is done by a non-acid enzyme derived from papaya, and is extremely gentle.
Can I use Radiant Skin Therapy with any other serums?	Yes. For best results, apply RST first, then apply your treatment serum, and end with your moisturizer.
Silk Serum
Why is it called a serum – all my other serums are colorless, clear liquids?	Silk Serum is a versatile, multi-functional skin perfecting formula that moisturizes as it refines and brings newer, fresher cells to the surface. It is its refining qualities that earn it designation as a serum. Its silky smooth body is the result of hydrating ingredients.
Do I have to follow this with a moisturizer?	Not necessarily. Women with normal to oilier skins will find that Silk Serum may offer the perfect amount of moisture. Women who tend to have drier skins will want to follow with a moisturizer. We recommend Silk Comfort Creme as an excellent moisturizer over Silk Serum.
Should I use it day or night?	One of the reasons this is known as such a versatile product is that it has virtues for both day and night time use. Daytime, its legendary “second skin technology” makes skin actually feel softer and smoother, and makes a great primer for application of makeup. Used at night, its skin refining characteristics help uncover fresher, newer smoother skin surface while also protecting skin from damaging free radicals. Silk Serum calms the skin, ensuring its comfort level.
Take 5!
When I use Take 5 I end up with white powdery stuff on my face. What is it and what should I do with it?	Take 5 is intended to be used sparingly, so if too much is applied it may become dry and leave a white powdery residue. Simply wipe off the residue with a tissue or damp cloth, and next time apply with a slightly lighter touch.
I didn’t get the result I saw on TV – why not?	It’s important with Take 5 to follow the directions on the carton very carefully in order to get the best possible result. It is intended only as a “temporary fix” – the tighter, smoother look you get will only last until you wash it off. Here are the directions in case you lost them: Clean and dry skin thoroughly. Gently pat (not rub) a small amount of Take 5! Into lines and wrinkles. Wait at least 2 minutes for Take 5 to absorb fully. While waiting, keep your face as still as possible. Repeat application a 2nd or 3rd time as needed for deeper lines, pausing as described above and keeping face still. Wait a full two minutes after last application before applying your moisturizer or makeup
Vitamin Complex 1 & 2 for the Face
Why are the vitamins in two separate bottles?	Some vitamins are water soluble and some need to exist in a waterless environment. We have separated the vitamins into their ideal environments so they will be fresh and fully potent on contact with your skin.
Do I use both bottles?	Yes. Put 1-2 drops each from Complex 1 and Complex 2 onto your fingertips. Blend together then apply gently all over your face. You don’t need a lot: 1-2 drops will be enough.
When should I use the vitamins?	They can be used morning or night. Since they are formulated also with other nutrients and moisturizers including betaine, oat beta glucan, prai root essence, chamomile, avocado oil and green tea, they are ideal for night time use under your nighttime treatment or moisturizer.
What are anti-oxidants and why do I need them?	Many of the signs of aging – dryness, loss of texture, fine lines and wrinkles – are the result of damage done to skin by free radicals. Free radicals are atoms or groups of atom with an odd (unpaired) number of electrons. They are often the result of poor diet, overexposure to sun, smoking, and exposure to any type of combustion, like automobile exhaust or pollution. These free radicals are highly reactive and can damage cells. Antioxidants are molecules that can safely interact with the free radicals and terminate the chain reaction of damage they do. We get antioxidants from vitamins in certain foods, and can also apply them topically, as in Vitamin Complex 1 and 2.
Do I use Vitamin Complex instead of sunscreen?	No, you should still use a sunscreen to protect your skin from the sun and the further free radical creation sun exposure can cause. Vitamin Complex defends against further damage from free radicals already in your body.
Ageless Hands
Do I apply the Resurfacer to dry hands?	No, you would apply the Self Heating Micro-Resurfacer to damp hands and massage in circular motion for 1 minute. Then rinse thoroughly with warm water & blot dry. Follow with the Age-Defying Complex.
The Resurfacer feels warm; is this normal?	Yes, you should feel heat when you massage it into your hands. The heat gently expands the pores to optimize the absorption and rejuvenating benefits of the Age-Defying Complex.
How often should I use this product?	We recommend using the Self Heating Micro-Resurfacer every 2-3 days. The Age-Defying Complex should be used daily am & pm and whenever hands feel dry.
Can I use any moisturizer over the Resurfacer?	If you want the best results, use the Age-Defying Complex. This multi-functional hand treatment goes far beyond moisturizing. By plumping the skin to reduce the appearance of ‘crepiness’ and brightening the appearance of sun-related age spots, your hands will look and feel younger
Can I use the Resurfacer on the face as an exfoliant?	No, this product is not approved for facial use. The abrasiveness of the crystals has been specially calibrated for the skin on the backs of the hands, which is far less delicate than the skin on your face. Also, the heating element is not approved for facial use.
Ageless Face
Can I use a moisturizer over it?	Yes, once Ageless Face has absorbed thoroughly, you may apply a moisturizer over it.
Can I apply a serum under it?	Ageless Face works best when applied to a dry skin surface. PRAISOME Firming Serum may be applied first and allowed to absorb before applying Ageless Face. All other treatments should be applied over it.
How long do I need to wait before applying my moisturizer?	We recommend waiting until Ageless Face absorbs completely – about 2-3 minutes – before applying your moisturizer.
Can I use it on my lines only?	Yes, Ageless Face may be applied over the entire face or only to the lines.
Is it temporary?	You will see immediate wrinkle relief while longer-term benefits will help restore skin’s youthful appearance.
Perfect Peel
Should the pads be only slightly moist when I first open them?	Yes, you need to activate the pads when you open them by pressing down the center of the pads. You will feel the liquid saturate them.
How often should I use the pads?	Perfect Peel pads may be used as often as necessary – daily is fine.
Do I need to wash my face after using the pads?	No. You may rinse your skin with water or toner, or simply follow with your normal am or pm regimen
I have sensitive skin – is it OK to use the pads daily?	Yes, they have been designed for all skin types, even the most sensitive.
Silk Comfort Creme
Can I use a serum under it?	Yes, it is fine to apply a serum first.
How is this different than Stress Relief?	It is the same excellent product just renamed and in a new package
Can I use it daily?	Yes, it is an ideal daily moisturizer, used alone or over a serum.
I had microdermabrasion done – can I use this product?	Yes, Silk Comfort Crème is an excellent choice to use after cosmetic procedures or exfoliations.
